Inkpen’s Weekend In Fire Island

August 25, 2008

The Boulevard - the main drag in fire island

Whether you’re venturing home from low tea or high, amble with care on this The Boulevard in the wonderfully remote, gay town of Fire Island. We had four injuries in my house alone — a trip and fall knee injury, a poke in the eye from a tree, a slip and fall down the stairs and a foot injury with origins unknown. Beware, you labor day boys and remember, no white after Labor Day. Hugs and kisses on the cheek, Inkpen.

Much like spending lazy afternoons wandering without a care (carelessness is the most important part) through the winding streets of Paris or driving across the United States, one of Inkpen’s lifelong travel dreams (one she’d forgotten she’d held dear to her heart) was to weekend in Fire Island. Well, finally, dramatically and fulfillingly, it has come to pass. What a weekend she had with her whole little heart in her throat!

Live, love, laugh

Above: Inkpen and her bro. No, they aren’t twins, but there is a genetic freakishness in the physical likeness among our clan.

Hot Hot Hot at the luau - Inkpen is thinner than she looks in this pic. She swears

DNC and the Cane

August 25, 2008

Barack Obama when he visited South Florida

All that Inkpen can say about Michelle Obama is that she has a Sigourney Weaverian intensity of presence. At least that’s all that she can tell because she’s live blogging 3 minutes of the DNC from Kim’s Alley Bar. Yes, Kim’s Alley Bar. Despite all of the shortcomings of the relentlessly coming modern world (and it’s slow thighs) with it’s $4 gallon gasoline, wifi at Kim’s is just too cool. All that Inkpen can say about the Gustav is that she hopes we don’t eat debris. She’s done with canes. Oh, and hello there moodvane reader(s). Inkpen moved to a new apt and she has yet to install wifi in her home, so it’s been few and far between on the update front.

Bowling with Inkpen Shmee – Style Over Content

August 12, 2008

Inkpen what have you been doing and why have we all missed you so much? Lots of stuff. For starters, bowling at Manor Lanes. Here, Inkpen demonstrates that style has much longer legs than quality or content or the ever-dangerous mix of quality and content — something you just don’t see any more, thank God.

Sweet Bronco rolls a strike.
Another Moodvane bowling classic.

Speaking of content, Inkpen also penned this little Metromix story.
