Cousin Games at Cousin Pete’s Wedding
September 29, 2008
Inkpen just returned home from a weekend of hanging out with the cousins. Cousin Pete got married in D.C. to a nice girl named Marissa, who just got swept up into the shamrock-tattooed madness. Brandy, Inkpen’s sister-in-law (pictured below) already knows a thing or two about the pot of gold at the end of the Tierney rainbow.
Above: Cousin Pat and Brandy compare baby bulges. Congratulations to both!
When you’ve got more cousins than you can count or account for — my mother is from an Irish Catholic family of 10 kids — you learn to just put the spreadsheet of the family tree away and enjoy the ride, which brings Inkpen to cousin games. Cousin Games are acts of physical derring-do and hand-to-hand combat that are more fun for older cousins than for younger cousins. Take it from a lifelong victim, they’re not nearly as bad as they used to be.
Below: Inkpen horses around with her cousins, Pat and Meaghan. Pat effortlessly hops a fence with a banana in his mouth. Meaghan and Court compare height and Aunt MaryEllen “why would you do that?” stories.

The photos above were taken during the weekend of Pete Tierney’s wedding (09-25-08 to 09-27-08). Some were taken during the rehearsal dinner at The Auld Shebeen Irish pub, some were taken at the church and others were taken at the reception.
Inkpen Misses Sweet Bronco
September 27, 2008
Dear Sweet Bronco,
I miss you. Cousin Pete is almost married. DC is wet and gloomy. Inkpen promises pictures and updates on cousin games soon. In the meantime, enjoy this video.
Yours,
Inkpen
Sweet Bronco and Inkpen Shmee Chill Like They Was Born To Do
September 26, 2008
Inkpen and Sweet Bronco have been superduper overwhelmed with all of the banalities of existence lately, which doesn’t mean that we haven’t had time to chill on our oversized couch and take a few walks. Here’s a little media to remember us by.
Inkpen chillin’ on the plus-sized couch. She hopes it doesn’t turn her into a plus-sized potato. Meow.
Sweet Bronco chills Middle River side. Look at that sky! Wowee! Inkpen is jealous of his cool-looking face and hard core true blueness.
Inkpen and Sweet Bronco go to The Ale House, and Sweet Bronco bullies yours truly with the camera. What’s wrong with a little double fisting? It’s super duper efficient.
A faux Fort Lauderdale landmark inspires Sweet Bronco to quote one of his favorite Sout Park episodes. If, Moodvane reader, this quoting of South Park gives you concern about Sweet Bronco’s coolness, just keep in mind that the pop culture pendulum has swung back. These days, it’s pretty much anything goes with pop culture and more sophisticated things like, say, the economy.
Inkpen and Sweet Bronco sheyal at The Hut. Sweet Bronco schools the scribbler on how to blink, not wink, for emphasis. Very important life lesson to share with all and sundry.

Yes daddy! Congrats to The Colbert Report for winning an Emmy. In tribute, the video for Charlene (I’m Right Behind You). This man is pure madness. Loving it!
One Never Knows What the Weekend Will Bring…
September 19, 2008
Does one? Well, Inkpen is kicking off her weekend at Undergrounds Coffeehaus, a swanky little coffee joint just west of Bayview on Oakland Park Blvd. Inkpen likes it here (yes, she’s written about it before) because it’s a supercozy great place to relax her mind and do whatever she feels like doing. It doesn’t hurt that they have a copy of Jonathan Franzen‘s The Corrections in Spanish. Inkpen has been chatting with Aileen, the owner, about Fort Lauderdale now and then, one of her favorite topics. Here are some pics from the hangout.
What will this weekend bring? Dunno.

SNL – They Went There
September 14, 2008
You’d have to be blind not to notice that GOP V.P. nominee Palin’s appeal — which fuels the novelty — is just drag off of Tina Fey’s mainstreamification of a particular brand of bespectacled female hotness. So, it’s pretty cool that SNL made this video to save those with sight the tedium of making the argument.
It’s also worth mentioning that Olympic phenomenon Michael Phelps hosted SNL last night because drag allowed him to achieve the status of the the winningest Olympian in history; Jazon Lezak’s unbelievable swim on that last leg of the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay is a perfect illustration of what it means to drag off of someone. In fact, there was no possible way for him to beat Alain Bernard, the world’s fastest 100 freestyler, except to stay close to the lane line and drag off of his wake. So, um, yeah. Bye.
Life Philosophy from Inkpen and Sean McGillicurry
September 6, 2008
Inkpen had the privilege of sitting down with the one and only Mr. McGillicurry — SPICY! — in an undisclosed location on Saturday night. McGillicurry is 2 beers in and Inken, full disclosure, is on her 4th Cap’n and Diet. She thinks it’s the Diet that might sway her mind from anything that a rational person would identify as a strain of logic, but it could be the Cap’n. Who knows? McGillicurry: “One never knows, do one?”
Don’t get hit by a car. Don’t drink before…9 a.m. Don’t do hard drugs., esp coke, heroine, meth. If you do those things, get some help. It ain’t right. If you’re going to read, read only good things like George Eliot (inkpen), Paul Auster (mcgillicurry, SPICY!), and this here blog. Good luck to you and Godspeed!
Inkpen loves Jack Black and Robert Downey, but please…
September 4, 2008
…spare yourself the boredom and disappointment of paying to sit through Tropic Thunder. Not since Weekend at Bernies has Inkpen experienced such a strong urge to walk out of a movie. Despite Inkpen’s chronic failure to see exceptional charm in Scarlett Johansson, she is very much looking forward to seeing Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Inkpen wants to see if Javier Bordem’s sex appeal is as devastating as she anticipates. She loved him in the film adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ Love in the Time of Cholera, a magnificent film that was overlooked last year.
