This Weekend: Cinema Paradiso Auter Explosion, Ketchy Shuby, More Black Finger, Zombies! Organize! ’80s Prom Action and Other Stuffs of Note

May 21, 2009

I’ve got my sensors out for new things to do, but it really isn’t necessary this week. What’s on is what’s awesome and what’s awesome is something that I can recognize but never be. I can only look at awesomeness in wonder and be like, “Please, your outfit is so cool! I love the way you tell people off! You play guitar like a maniac!”

THURSDAY If you’re in doubt of Renda Writer’s omnipresence or the power of his events to take you to a higher level, you should consider the fact that he popped up on my Facebook chat at precisely the moment when I was publishing my upcoming events blog. And, wouldn’t you know it? He’s got an event tonight, an event that will, well, do what it can to take you to a higher level. Xavier Hawk is the name of the artist who’s pushing out more than a few pleasant tunes. He’s channeling higher powers through music. Check the event out if you’re into or think you might be into impromptu musical styling with a spiritual dimension. It’s at Duncan Conference Center in Delray Beach. The WeMerge feature on Mr. Hawk can be accessed through the hyperlinked text at the beginning of this sentence. Is it wrong to say that this guy is kind of hot?

You can get hippie dippie with Xavier Hawk, or just check out his bod tonight!

FRIDAY
Friday, the 22nd, Zombies! Organize! will play Propaganda. I’m dying to see them, and everyone who has seen them tells me that they will instantaneously become my favorite band — not sure if that has anything to do with me or if they are an instant fave in general.
Black Finger
, the southern rock deliciousness that I covered earlier in the week, will play South Shores Tavern on Frizdad.

BLACKFINGER

BLACKFINGER

How did they get that dirty name for their band, I wonder. Who cares? They’re superfun! Oh yeah, I’m making up my own awesome song as I write my blog, and these are the awesome lyrics that I’m singing as I write, yeah! I rule. Can you dig it? It’s so rad. You can’t keep up with me. No, no. No! (End song). Sorry, I should take that nonsense out of my blog, but I’m not going to, oh no, because today is silly Thursday. At Radioactive Records, there will be a show featuring Black Ant, Ouija and Cloud Forest.

I’m not entirely sure what it’s all about because the flyer and artist pages are not that informative. Although, Black Ant’s page says “hip hop/experimental”, so that’s a pretty good indication.

SATURDAY
Saturday, the 23, Auter Explosion goes down at Cinema Paradiso.

I’m going to go to see some short films and catch up with Tongues of the Heartworm at this show. Plus, I’ve never seen Teri Catlin. $5 boneroonies is not a lot to pay for all that art.
Fausto! Tongues of the Heartworm! Shouting out your name makes me queazy, but I'll do it for you!

At Propaganda on Saturday night, Kill Miss Pretty will play. You may know them as the naked groom (female) with two brides (male) that graced the cover of New Times BPB a couple of months back. But, they’re not, to the best of my knowledge a lawfully wedded throuple. They are a local band, and here is a bit of Kill Miss Pretty in action:

Shazam!

SUNDAY
On Sunday, Ketchy Shuby, a Miami-based Latin/reggae/blues band will play at The Fox & The Hound. Photo below:

I know one of the guys in this band. DANNY!

Also, Respectable Street will have its ’80s prom on Sunday night. Though that event sounds awesome, I’ve never gone to that. Who’s going to that, I wonder. Palm Beach is mighty far away and I think that I would feel like the lonely kid in the lunch room if I tried to party up there. ;)

Most likely, if Sweet Bronco and I can make it out to events, we will hit up the following: Zombies! Organize! on Friday night, Auter Explosion at Cinema Paradiso on Saturday and Ketchy Shuby at Fox & Hound on Sunday. PS. I think we might go to Alligator Alley tonight to check in with Kilmo and SB might play a set on the open mic. ;)
