Please exsqueeze me for the uselessness of my blog this season. This year, I literally encountered a creature that can only be described as a goblin, and it robbed from their storeroom the stockpiled sources of my life’s joy. Out of necessity, I dedicated my thoughts and energy to restocking for the winter and 2011, so going out and about has not been big on my list of things to do. Of late, my thoughts have turned from goblins to elves, and I am feeling much jollier now. Consequently, I am trying to make my plans for the weekend that starts in, oh, 5 hours, which requires CEO-caliber decision making skills because stages and venues are going to be slammed with righteous action tonight and tomorrow.
Tonight and all day tomorrow, Zitfest (this scene is fittin’ a pop) goes down at Lake Park venue Orange Door. That’s at the northern end of Palm Beach. I’ve never been there, which probably has something to do with the fact that it’s located 60 miles from my home. The line-up consists of all of those effortlessly cool Palm Beach bands that have been breaking out in the last year and out-of-town acts that they like. BPB New Times Music Editor Reed Fischer, who recently seduced an entire bar full of people with a karaoke performance of Prince’s “Raspberry Beret”, talks to the Jameses (which isn’t always easy) and previews Zitfest over on County Grind. Not sure how much of the festival I’m going to be able to attend. I think that I might do Saturday afternoon and evening. Dewars!!! Here’s the two-day festival’s lineup.

Goodrich, Mineo and Fusik tonight at Pineapple Groove
Also, tonight, Fusik, Mike Mineo and Rachel Goodrich play together at Pineapple Groove in Delray Beach. Fusik and Mineo? Curious pairing. This is another venue that’s new to me. I’m thinking that I might pop by. I’ve heard very good things, but I’ve never seen Goodrich perform.
Tomorrow night is Santacon in Fort Lauderdale. As much joy as it brings me to see dozens of people running around in santa costumes, I might have to pass on it. They’re meeting at Briny during happy hour, then going to Bierbrunnen via water taxi, then back to Las Olas to take over the streets. Sounds cute! Vixen and Calendar Editor Mickie Centrone spells out Santacon details over at BPB.

Travulous and Friends Spread Cosmic Cheer
Also, there’s gonna be a holiday market and live music event at The Bubble tomorrow. I told you that there was a lot of stuff going on! Geez! Trav is going to perform an “intergalactic musical”. This is probably as confusing (in a good way) as it sounds. I’ll leave it to God’s gift to humanity, Erica Landau, to explain over at BPB’s Calendar. I’m probably going to go to this event on Saturday. Yay!
Also, Ben Prestage and Sweet Chariots at Lake Worth’s darling little German bar and live music venue Little Munich tomorrow night at 10 p.m.
